Soccer speed and agility drills are a great way to get different movement through short distance sprints.
This type of training should encourage quick footwork around the cones with short tight cuts around the cone followed with explosive sprint to the next cone.
SOCCER DRILL SET UP
Set up a grid with the cones like in the picture above.
Use 2 or 5 meters/yards as the starting point depending on age and players skill level.
Increase the distance of the next pair of cones to form a funnel looking grid.
Simple way to do this exercise is by sprinting and using quick footwork to turn around the cone and explode with a sprint to the next cone across.
Finish with a straight sprint to the last cone.
Add sideway stepping on the straight part and sprinting across. Or add short step jog, or bunny hops, or any other creative idea to make this drill more interesting and rewarding in training.
Another idea is to add a soccer ball to the runs.
Most important part is to train with 100% effort to get the most out of every soccer exercise.
