Soccer Training Sessions with Youth Soccer Players - #10
Soccer training sessions are always planned around the kids getting lots of touches with the soccer ball and incorporating different soccer drills to help improve agility, speed, footwork, conditioning and coordination with and without the soccer ball.
This particular soccer training session is mainly focused on training with a soccer ball.
I think I used only one running soccer drill before adding the soccer ball to that drill as well.
Boys warm up with the soccer ball using juggling to let loose and ball control to break a sweat and get lots of touches first thing in the training session.
⚽️ JUGGLING AND TOUCHES WITH THE SOCCER BALL
Players spend 6 minutes throwing the ball in the air and controlling it with the inside, outside or toes. Repetition is the key.
Every soccer player loves to shoot the soccer ball so we move into various soccer drills to control and shoot the soccer ball.
⚽️ HAVING FUN USING DIFFERENT WAYS TO CONTROL THE SOCCER BALL AND SHOOTING ON THE COACH.
Soccer training sessions with ball control soccer drills are fun and engaging to the kids.
Here they use gates and rolls between two poles before dribbling and shooting on goal.
I always add a free style version of the drill to just let the kids do whatever they want.
⚽️ MOVEMENT WITH BALL CONTROL SKILL, DRIBBLING AND SHOOTING
Soccer training sessions should always include some fitness drills but this time I made it minimal running without the soccer ball.
Boys give 4 reps of sprinting, running sideways and backpedaling around the mini rectangle before I introduce the soccer ball to run with.
⚽️ RECTANGLE SOCCER DRILLS WITH RUNNING AND BALL CONTROL SOCCER DRILLS
Soccer training sessions should always end with some play time.
I use the play time as encouragement to keep the players focused and moving through my session plan. Goofing around just cuts into their play time!
