The most important soccer skills to learn are ball control and awareness. Ball control comes from hours spent practicing and playing with the soccer ball from an early age. Awareness usually develops with experience and proper coaching in the game.
Small space training or playing (Futsal) is the best way to get the maximum touches with the soccer ball and play both offense and defense.
Today's soccer training mixes cardio, ball control, and strength training in a 30 to 45-minute workout at home.
Consistency and repetition are the key elements in advancing soccer skills further and further over time.
Young players need touches, planning, and structure. My weekly workouts are high intensity with 30 to 60-sec rest between different soccer drills.
Before starting any soccer training drills, I begin with a light stretch for 5 to 10 minutes. It's become a routine, and I spend this time preparing my body for a high-intensity workout.
This training video starts with cardio exercises to bring the heart rate up and loosen up the body. Resting time between each activity is 30 to 60 seconds.
After a little bit of cardio, I move into working on the most important soccer skills getting more familiar with the soccer ball. Any skill can be learned, slow down until you have the technique, and the sequence down. Then repeat until your feet learn what to do and how to do it.
I'm tired after nine soccer drills working on the most important soccer skills with the ball. Tired and sweaty but pushing through to the last part of soccer training at home. Another one of the more important soccer skills is having strong core muscles. I finish off training with a set of strength soccer drills to work out different parts of the body and core muscles.
Day two has different exercises, but the same plan and structure.
I start with stretching, followed by cardio drills to get the blood pumping.
Every exercise is timed 60 seconds with 30 to 60 seconds of rest between soccer drills. I listen to my body when it comes to breaks. Deep breath in through the mouth and out the nose is a great way to recover in a short time.
The most important soccer skills are with the soccer ball. It takes time, hours, weeks, months, and years to become more and more familiar with the soccer ball. Focus on technique and concentrate on the soccer ball. Touches are not always clean and controlled, but as long as you touch the soccer ball and focus on technique, you are getting more and more touches even through mistakes. Enjoy the process.
The last part of sharpening important soccer skills is working on strength soccer training. Today I planned six strength soccer exercises to work out different parts of the body and muscle groups. I like to think mind over body when it comes to strength training. We are a lot more resilient than our brain tells us once its put under stress with strength training.
It is all up to the individual self how far you want to go and things you want to achieve. We all have the same amount of hours in a day. How are you going to invest your daily time?
